The weather conditions should have suited me and the strategy we decided on but unfortunately it all went wrong in a failed overtaking move on Vettel. It all started when Massa spun (for the first time) coming out of Abbey and Vettel went one side and I went the other and I had the run down through Bridge and into Priory.

Time to move on....

I expected the incident to be on track and not in the pit lane but I guess the warning signs were there a year ago when Massa drove through the red light and received a penalty.

Of the available 4 hours of testing prior to Qualifying I managed to compete in 2 of them. The other 2 hours were lost to mechanical problems where we lost the throttle control in practice 1 wiping away 90 minutes of running and then lost a further 30 minutes on Saturday morning to a gearbox issue. When I did start running it started to rain so I really was 2008 mileage limited going into Qualy 1.

The end result was still no points but the level of speed and consistency was there throughout the weekend to know that points are around the corner.

I took the decision going into Qualy to use two sets of the softer (option) tyre in Q1 to avoid the embarrassment of Barcelona where trying to use the harder prime tyre resulted in missing the cut by five hundredths of a second.

I had the pace but ran wide in the final sector and missed out by half a tenth.
