Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz can confidently claim to have invented the motor car. Its history of excellence and innovation stretches back to the first petrol-powered car, the Benz Patent Motorwagen, patented by Karl Benz in 1886. Since then the marque has built a powerful reputation for quality and performance on the road and on the track. It dominated Grand Prix racing in the 1930s, and immediately began winning again when it returned to Formula 1 in 1954. After over 30 years away from motorsport it began competing in the DTM in 1987, and during the 1990s it expanded its racing activities into sportscars, IndyCars and once again F1, beginning an alliance with McLaren that is still winning grands prix today.

Many of David's greatest successes were powered by Mercedes-Benz and he maintains strong ties with the brand.
